Google AdSense banning users from participation

Google AdSense logo

Google AdSense banned me from participation in their program last summer. The resons to me are not clear but there seems to be a number of other people in the same boat. Appearntly I was banned for “fraudulent clicks” which translates into the same IP or computer system clicking on ads published by an AdSense account.

If you create an AdSense account at a public WiFi spot or a public network and someone else accesses your ads from the same network then you may appear to be generating “fradulent clicks” to Google and it wont be long until they ban you even if you did not intentionally click your ad’s. So what can someone do once they are banned from use of Google AdSense. Well according to Google they will not reinstate any previously banned accounts. Well I am banned and I plan to try and get unbanned from the program. I will be posting about it here to keep anyone interested up to date on my progress.

Find your celebrity look alike

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

me_my_heritage.jpg

Have you ever been told you favor a celebrity? Well now myheritage.com has an online tool that will take a 100 X 100 pixels or greater photo of you and compare it against celebrity photos to find your twin. I wasn’t too impressed with some of the results this widget came up with but hey it’s a neat idea.

Using the tool requires registration and they try to trick you into filling out a survey just click “no thanks” at the page where they ask for your SSN (crazy talk these days) and your on your way to finding your famous twin or so they say.Link

Tigger socks teen in the face

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Tiggers love bouncing, we all know that. Well apparently they also love boxing as this video shows Tigger connecting with a left hook to a 14 year old boys face. The teen went to the hospital and the Tigger was suspended. The plush bully has yet to apologize to the boy or his family.

The 10 Myths of Copyrights

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

CopyrightBrad Templeton has a great article on the ten myths of copyrights. As an artist I found this to be at the least entertaining.

“If it doesn’t have a copyright notice, it’s not copyrighted.”
This was true in the past, but today almost all major nations follow the Berne copyright convention. For example, in the USA, almost everything created privately and originally after April 1, 1989 is copyrighted and protected whether it has a notice or not. The default you should assume for other people’s works is that they are copyrighted and may not be copied unless you know otherwise. There are some old works that lost protection without notice, but frankly you should not risk it unless you know for sure.

Bluehost.com - Web Hosting Services $6.95 a month

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

Today I would like to tell you all about Bluehost.com . Bluehost.com is a web hosting company I use to host this site and many of my web design clients websites.

I have used Bluehost.com as the home for timmatheson.com for a little over a year now and I must say I am impressed with their quality of service. So why am I blabbing about this on my blog? Well I recently found out that the owner of Bluehost.com Matthew Heaton previously owned 50megsforfree.com the company was soon bought out by Freeservers.com and Mat became a partner in the company. This amazed me because of its ironic properties. When I first began to design websites I had no knowledge of web pages, web forms ect. just a copy of FrontPage express and an old Compaq computer. I needed a place to host my sites and quickly joined on with Freeservers.com not realizing it at the time I later joined Bluehost.com because of their excellent web hosting package offer. When Matt Heaton posted his blog found here I realized all this and was amazed at the fact that we had a lot of interaction with each other and did not even know it. There really is no point to this post just wanted to talk a little bit about Bluehost.com and let everyone know what a great Hosting Provider they are.

The Boondocks Comic Strip by Aaron McGruder

Thursday, November 17th, 2005

Comic strip artist Aaron McGruder has really gotten his political message out with his famous comic strip Boondocks. McGruder 28 is known for the cynical and sometimes offensive nature of his strips. Boondocks is a comic strip about a family of African-American kids adjusting to an integrated, predominately white suburb.

McGruder works from home producing 7 strips a week and best of all he does it completely digital. McGruder has formed his strips around some controversial topics such as Bush, Ronald Regan, Osama Bin Laden and decss a content scrambling system used on many DVD’s as a copyright protection system. McGruder occasionally has had his strips pulled from several news papers based on the topics Boondocks is based on. I personally think that Boondocks communicates a powerful message and is an overall great strip. McGruder is currently working on a book that will include all the Boondocks strips he has ever made. This book will also include some strips that never made it to the papers. There is also some talk of Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” has recently featured the cartoon version of Boondocks. When asked where the young artist sees himself heading with all this he replied he would like to tap into Hollywood and motion pictures because of the more broad audience and opportunity to get his message across. McGruder says “People don’t read anymore, well at least most of them. Unless you can beam something into there eyes your message will never get heard.” Boondocks currently runs in over 200 newspapers nationwide including the New York Times, The Boston Journal and more.

Cellby gets a hug

Friday, November 11th, 2005

U.S. Cellular Cellby
Today at Northside Computers (U.S. Cellular Authorized Agent) we promoted cellular phones using the U.S Cellular mascot “Cellby”. He received several comment’s a wave of honks and even a hug from a passerby. There is just something about Cellby that warms people up inside. Maybe it’s the antenna. I really thought this deserved a post to my blog because I enjoyed it so why not share it with the world.
