Mooninites Cartoon Network

Turner Broadcasting System appologized for a recent bomb scared caused by ignorance IMHO and stated that they responded quickly to resolve the matter. Several LED mooninites giving the finger were displayed in various cities throughout the country. Some were even said to be found under the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC. The Boston bomb squad even went so far as to diffuse (Blow Up) one of these objects in fear of what it might be.

What is my take on all this?
Well, if the Boston bomb squad can not tell the difference between a “Real Bomb” and a bunch of LED’s on a PCB with a power supply and some resistors from a “Real Bomb” then they really should go back to helping old ladies accross the street plain and simple. The fact of the matter is people, this is the real world. We used to see things just like this and we would just laugh and not think twice about it. Now we have to go and call swat and make sure we are not in some kind of risk of attack. I guess the moral of this story is “If you dont understand it, just blow it up”

From NewsDay.com — The promotion, for a television show on the Turner Broadcasting System subsidiary Cartoon Network, involved blinking electronic devices that displayed a boxy-looking cartoon character giving the finger. Peter Berdovsky, 27, and Sean Stevens, 28, were paid to place the devices in high-profile spots, and even took videos documenting their work.

More than three dozen of the devices were installed around Boston weeks before authorities responded Wednesday. Authorities shut down highways, bridges and river traffic as bomb squads checked out the devices. There was barely a stir in nine other cities across the country where similar devices were placed. –Furthermore: To win a felony conviction for placing a hoax device, prosecutors have to prove that the men intended to cause fear, and that the devices looked dangerous.
