10 ways to get comped by Casinos

Casino Chips

If you are a gambler and frequent the local casinos or take an occasional trip to Las Vegas you may be missing out on the big pay out. Savvy gamblers know that most casinos feature a rewards program where you earn points based on how much you spend. Most rewards programs are free and upon enrollment you are issued a card with a magstripe to insert into machines while you play. The card keeps track of the amount of money flowing into the machine as you the play. The concept is simple, the more you spend the more points you earn and the more comps you can trade them for.

Comps or Compensations can be in the form of anything from rooms, room service, food, beverages, shopping gift certificates and more. After researching this online I came up with 10 ways to get comped by a casino.

  1. Be prepared to spend some hard earned chips. Remember the more you spend the more points you earn.
  2. Compliment and even tip the pit boss when possible. This might give you the cushion you need to gain your well deserved comp. The pit boss will in most cases decide on just how much you get comped so slip him some green.
  3. Also make sure the pit boss knows you are spending allot of money even if you are not. Placing higher bets when the pit boss is around is always a good idea.
  4. Don’t gamble around town stick to the casino where you have your room. Once they see you have kept your business with them they will want you back and as a result may comp your room, drinks, entertainment, gas or other amenities to make you feel like a winner again.
  5. Don’t be afraid to ask for things. A closed mouth does not get fed so ask for a comp from the pit boss and if your previous ass kissing was up to par you may get more then you ask for.
  6. Charge everything to your room and spend your cash/credit in the machines after all you don’t want to get your room and room service comped after you paid out of your pocket for all of your drinks, smokes etc. Just don’t go overboard because they may not comp the entire cost so hold off on the showgirls.
  7. You will need enough money to make it through the ups and downs. Most machines will pay out an average of 60% - 80% but only over time. Most people who don’t gamble often get frustrated after a few loses and walk away. Moving to a new machine is not always the best idea if you plan break even. Set a budget and play what you know best.
  8. Be sure to read up on any literature in regards to the casinos rewards program. If you know the system it will be much easier to manipulate it in your favor.
  9. Spread out your bets over a longer period of time. Most table games only comp rooms after 3 -5 hours of playing. However the comp meter keeps running whether you are in or out so enjoy yourself and kill some time. This will give you better odds for a comp.
  10. Play the part of a looser. The more humble you look the more you will get. If they think your just another freeloader they will give you less, so be a “low roller”.

Don’t forget to be friendly with the bosses. If they like you your stay will be much more enjoyable than if they don’t.
